Fiesta de la Tierra: Family Micronaut Mission

On Saturday, April 26, 2025 from 10:00am to 11:45am the 2nd annual Fiesta Micronaut Family Mission will launch from the Santikos Micronaut Center at the San Antonio College.  Tickets are closed for this event. 

We look forward to launching the Fiesta season with our 2025 Micronaut crew!



Calling Public School Classroom Teachers

On May 9th from 5:30-7:30p.m. the Scobee Challenger Learning Center team will be flying 34 teachers on the newly revisioned "Earth Odyssey" mission designed for the middle grades.  For this special "Out of This World Educator Adventure", we have acquired a grant from The Boeing Company to make this opportunity available at no cost to our teacher crew members. 

While the mission is designed for the middle grades, this catered event is open to K-8th grade classroom teachers.  Space may be endless, but the spaces in this program are limited. Just a few spaces are still available!

2025 Scobee Teachers' Academy

July 28 - July 31, 2025, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

The 40 teacher cohort has been formed and we are starting a wait list!

This free, catered, four-day, professional development experience will provide hands-on activities provided by the Scobee staff and area professionals from The Boeing Company to provide insights and engaging, simple to deliver hands-on activities that will inspire science, technology, engineering, and mathematics career pathways for your students.  Following their experience, participants will be expected to provide mini workshops at their respective schools to help spread the information learned within their school community to create a broader impact on students. 

In addition to the teacher kits, 3D printers, and activity resources, each teacher will be provided with the pre-mission training materials to register their classes for Challenger Learning Center and Santikos Micronaut Center simulated space missions.  Success proven center field trip logistics and pre-mission activities specific to these missions and their related planetarium programs will be provided.  Teachers authorized to schedule these trips will be permitted to do so for dates in September and October of 2025 ahead of most classes registering for the new school year.

This experience is limited to 40 teachers and is filling up quickly! Participants completing the four-day program will receive 24 CPE Hours.

The Artemis Academy Summer Camp

The Artemis Academy is a coed summer camp for rising 5th, 6th and 7th  graders who will be in middle school in the fall of 2025. This unique summer camp is has met its capacity and we are 'over the moon' about the possibilites for the remaining virtual STEM Club meetings and week-long camo in July!  General Susan Helms former NASA Astronaut, and one-time record holder for the most hours of spacewalks will be our guest speaker in May.

Summer Camp Programs at SAC through the YMCA

The YMCA is planning to open a summer camp program for at least 35 campers between the ages of 5 - 13 at San Antonio College

Through a grant from the Najim Charitable Foundation, Scobee plans to work with the YMCA camps to provide Challenger or Micronaut missions to enhance their programming.

Teachers, Mark Your Calendars for August 22nd

On Friday, August 22nd from 6-9:00p.m., the Scobee Education Center will close to regular public programs and open exclusively for area teachers.  The "Welcome Back Teachers:  You Are Go for Launch!" networking and community resource event brings together informal STEAM education organizations from across San Antonio to meet area teachers in a casual, catered environment to share resources for the classroom and area field trips.

This is a free event sponsored by The Boeing Company in support of providing for our teachers and planning for the 2025-26 school year.

Planetarium Announcements

Come by Friday nights at 6 p.m. when the doors to the center open for public planetarium programs. Planetarium Tickets are available online one week in advance and may be purchased through the Planetarium and Observatory link on this web site. Tickets are also available through the Lackey Camper-Casper Ticket Booth in the center after the doors open at 6 p.m. 

Tickets are available through our online one week prior for Friday night shows.

Scobee Planetarium Programs for Friday, April 25th, 2025.

The planetarium is closed for Alamo Colleges holidays on  Friday, May 2nd.

The Scobee Planetarium programs for April 2025 will be:  

6:30 p.m. – “Max Goes to the Moon" 40 minutesThis is our family show. All ages may attend.   

8:00pm - Sky Tonight Live 40-50 minutes Children must be 6 and above to attend. This program tends to sell out online before the doors open.

9:30pm -  Dynamic Earth" & Forward to the Moon" 60 minutesChildren must be 6 and above to attend.  

The Scalan Observatory viewing groups occur, weather permitting, at 9:30 and 10:30pm..  $3 per person tickets are only available in-person at our ticket booth on site and are limited in number to a first come first served basis.
