Experience:

After years of working case management with at risk youth I decided to pursue Criminal Justice. I started my master's at UTSA and began working as a Probation Officer here in Bexar County. I was a probation officer for 18 years. I obtained my Masters in 2008 from UTSA with the Justice Policy department my concentration is in Criminal Justice. Besides working at the Probation Department, I have worked with the SAPD evidence unit (Intern), taught Psycho educational groups at local schools (all ages) and coordinated an after-school program and summer camp program for at risk youth. I have been working at the Probation department since 2005. The majority of my experience comes from working with a substance abuse, mental health caseloads and doing field visits for high-risk offenders. I have conducted visits with offenders in state rehabilitation (in prison rehab) and state ran half- way houses. From 2013-2014, I worked with the Sex Offender Management Unit where I supervised registered sex offenders on probation. I was a Manager at the department from 2016- May 2024. I started teaching with Alamo Colleges in 2010, my experience with Alamo Colleges led me to work with University of the Incarnate Word and Texas A&M San Antonio. I have taught a variety of courses in the criminal justice. My favorite part of teaching is the ability to prepare my students for the future.

Bio:

I graduated from Our Lady of the Lake with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Criminal Justice. I obtained my Masters degree from UTSA in Justice Policy. I recently left a very rewarding career in the criminal justice system as a Probation Officer. I have vast knowledge and experience that would benefit students with similar career interests. I have worked along side the Juvenile Court system as well as the adult courts. In addition, I have experience in my undergraduate studies working with the San Antonio Police Department's crime scene unit and continue to have contacts with many of the staff there.
