Wildcat Mascot Identified...
During the 2000-2001 academic year, large paw prints were found on campus near the area that became the aptly named Wildcat Cove.

Signs were hung around campus on the day of Graduation that read “Beware of the Wildcat!” Some folks were fearful and wanted to trap and remove the mountain lion, who had taken up residence in the backwoods of the Northwest Vista College campus to give birth to a cub. Instead, we were trained on what to do if we encountered a mountain lion and were told to “Look Big!”

This she-cat became the lore of the college and would eventually become our college mascot – The Wildcat
